What is a Children's Centre

Children's Centres are service hubs where children under five years old and their families can receive seamless integrated services and information.  By 2010, every community will be served by a Sure Start Children's Centre, offering permanent universal provision across the country, ensuring that every child gets the best start in life.

At Castle View, we provide a range of opportunities for parents and their young children.  We also work with the Midwifery service so that we are also able to offer support to expectant parents.  We work very closely with the local Health Visitors, Early Years practitioners, Head Teachers and Foundation Stage leaders, Family Information Zone (FIZ), Job Centre Plus and other specialist agencies to ensure that we can offer parents as much as possible at the right time.

The building itself consists of a large play room, a training room with IT facilities, a parent 'snug' room and a large office for the staff.

The centre employs a Family Link Worker, Outreach Worker, Creche Worker, Family Support Worker, Administrator and Manager to ensure that the activities are coordinated and facilitated to meet your needs.

The Centre can provide you with guidance on a wide variety of childhood and parenting matters for children 0-5 years.

The Centre also provides a place for Child Minding Networks and their ongoing professional development.
